The International School of Minnesota (ISM) is pleased to announce their partnership with Minnesota United Football Club (MNUFC). As part of the partnership, MNUFC will send all out-of-market student athletes enrolled in its Development Academy to ISM starting in the 2018-19 school year to ensure they are able to develop as scholars as well as athletes.
Shared values of accountability, respect, excellence, and honesty served to spark initial interest in working together, and after learning more about each other, the partnership became a natural fit. Backed by 30+ years of experience in serving students from Minnesota, the greater U.S., and the world, ISM takes pride in providing an education that helps students develop a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, a love of lifelong learning, and the ability to adapt to and lead change. ISM prepares students to achieve success in a rapidly changing world and shapes them as caring, compassionate, community-minded individuals.
“Ensuring that the academic program would provide these soccer student-athletes with a quality education was extremely important to us,” said MNUFC Academy Director Tim Carter. “The more we learned about ISM and saw first-hand the care and attention they provide to students made us very comfortable in establishing this partnership. It is a key component of our Academy’s strategy and will help us to achieve our mission of developing players for our first team.”
MNUFC, in addition to being a professional soccer club, also embraces high standards and gives back to the community. They care about making soccer more inclusive and introducing the sport to the next generation of fans. They also give back to the state and local community through programs like L’Etoile Du Nord and the Special Olympics Minnesota.
“We are excited about this partnership and the opportunities it will provide both the ISM community and the MNUFC organization,” said Mahdi Kansou, Executive Director of Business Operations at SABIS®, ISM’s parent company.
His sentiments were echoed by ISM’s Acting Director Stephan Michaud.
“We look forward to working with MNUFC student athletes to help them fulfill their academic potential. Our whole community is excited to welcome our new students and wave our scarves in support of Minnesota United!"
