ISM's Model United Nation Team Trip
Last week, the International School of Minnesota’s Model United Nations (MUNISM) Team participated in the 13th Annual Model United Nations Conference at the Palmer House-Hilton Hotel in Chicago.
This conference was put on by the University of Chicago and ran from February 1st-4th.
Members of MUNISM attended five different sub-committees:
- Social Humanitarian,
- African Union,
- UN Children’s Fund,
- UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
The students experienced hands-on, international-level mock debates and acted as if they were diplomats from Gabon, a country in Sub-Saharan Africa. As Model UN aims to introduce students to the world of international diplomacy, attendees from ISM felt that the conference was an intellectually challenging activity and a great opportunity to network with other students from around the country and world.
Brandon Yang, the Secretary-General of MUNISM quoted, “It was a very intriguing and interesting experience for me who has never experienced an American Model UN Conference.”
In addition to attending the conference, students enjoyed exploring downtown Chicago in their spare time.
MUNISM is planning to recruit members for next year soon, so keep an eye out for more information shortly if you are interested in joining!
