2018 Senior Series - Laurèl Bertomeu
Meet Laurèl Bertomeu, an ISM student since Kindergarten. She has committed to the University of St. Thomas and plans to major in General Business Management and Family Business.
Over the years, Laurel has been an active member of the ISM and local community. Laurel has participated in show choir, dance, and multiple musicals. This year, Laurel starred as Mr. Willy Wonka in ISM’s musical Willy Wonka. Laurel is a leader in her school community and is highly committed to SABIS’s Student Life Organization®. She has spent time volunteering at many organizations including Habitat for Humanity and Feed My Starving Children. Throughout her time at ISM, she has been a SLO® Prefect, Deputy Head, and is currently the Head Prefect. Through her involvement in SLO, Laurel had the opportunity to attend the SABIS® Student Life Training Conference in Athens, Greece last summer. In addition, Laurel has participated in tennis, Girl Scouts, guitar, and piano.
Laurèl was also accepted into Hamline University, St. Norbert College, St. Catherine University, Gustavus Adolphus College, Morningside College, Coe College, University of Minnesota-Duluth, and St. Xavier University. Laurèl chose to attend St. Thomas because she's been wanting to attend this school since 9th grade, but also because St. Thomas is one of the best business schools in Minnesota. St. Thomas also offers Family Business which she is interested in.
Laurèl received many scholarships from Trustee Scholarships to Merit Scholarships and the St. Thomas Annual Award.
Laurèl is looking forward to making new friends but says she is going to miss ISM!
She says:
"ISM has given me the confidence I need and has given me the skills to not only succeed academically, but communicate successfully. Thank you for giving me the knowledge, skills, opportunities, and confidence that have made me as successful as I am and continue to be."
