Samantha Blake - Merit Scholar Winner
The International School of Minnesota congratulates Samantha Blake, a member of the Class of 2020, for her selection as a National Merit Scholar. Samantha earned this distinction by being in the top 15% of students in the United States of 1.6 million entrants for the scholarship. Students who receive the designation of National Merit Scholar receive a $2,500 scholarship to the college. National Merit Scholars are evaluated based on PSAT scores, involvement in school communities, student essays, and teacher recommendations.
In addition to her scholarly achievements, Samantha has been involved in extracurricular activities at the International School, serving as show choir captain and the Head Prefect of the Student Life Organization. She has also been involved in peer tutoring. When asked about her achievement, Samantha said, “The International School of Minnesota prepared me to succeed academically, I was prepared and did not feel anxious about the exam.”
“Samantha is not only a National Merit Scholar; she is prepared for college. The rigor of the school schedule is similar to what other students experience in college.” Lynn Blake, Samantha’s mother, states.
“The International School of Minnesota has a long history of academic rigor and encouraging students to explore their talents beyond the classroom. I am proud of Samantha’s achievement and anticipate watching her achieve great success in her future.” Said Nadia Reda, School Director. “It has been wonderful watching Samantha serve as a school leader and a scholar. She is a role model to all students.”
