The International School of Minnesota (ISM) is proud to introduce its 2025–2026 Student Life Organization® (SLO®) Leadership Team. More than just a student group, SLO® is a cornerstone of ISM’s educational philosophy—a dynamic, student-led organization designed to cultivate leadership, build community, and empower students to take ownership of their educational journey.
With a team full of fresh ideas, renewed energy, and an unwavering commitment to student success, this year’s leaders are ready to make a lasting impact.
“SLO® has given me the opportunity to grow as a leader while helping create moments that bring our ISM community closer together,” said Yewon J., ISM senior and this year’s Head Prefect. “I’m excited to work with such a dedicated and innovative SLO® Leadership Team to inspire school spirit, strengthen connections, and make this a memorable year for everyone at ISM.”
What is SLO®?
The SABIS Student Life Organization® (SLO®) is ISM’s student-led leadership program, integrated into the school day. Students plan events, support academics, promote wellness, and lead initiatives that shape school culture—all while building real-world skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
SLO® builds a sense of responsibility by giving students real opportunities to lead, collaborate, and give back. It equips them with the skills and confidence to make a lasting impact in school and beyond.
A Vision for 2025–2026: Unity, Voice, and Involvement
The new SLO® Leadership Team began the year with an intensive Prefect Training Day and has already helped plan key events like the school-wide Husky Bash. With a shared vision of a more connected and inclusive ISM, the team has set three key goals:
1. Enhancing Communication Through Monthly Assemblies
Starting in September, students in grades 6–12 will participate in Monthly SLO® Assemblies to share updates, celebrate achievements, and collaborate as a school community.
2. Building Cross-Grade Connections
Programs like Huskies & Pups will encourage mentorship and friendship between older and younger students, fostering unity across grade levels.
3. Expanding Student Engagement
From academics to arts, wellness to service, the team is creating new pathways for students to get involved and make their voices heard.
Meet the 2025–2026 SLO® Leadership Team
Led by Head Prefect Yewon J., the team includes nine Deputy Head Prefects, each leading a core department of student life:
Jack W. | Deputy Head of Management
A dynamic junior, Jack has been a committed member of SLO® for two years and steps into his first leadership role with big ambitions. This year, he aims to launch a new podcast team to amplify student voices, streamline the attendance and points tracking system for SLO® clubs, and revamp the morning announcements to keep the community better informed and engaged with school events.
Frixel B. | Deputy Head of Academics
Now in his senior year, Frixel brings a wealth of experience as a two-year SLO® prefect and founder of both the 2025 ISM Science Bowl and Trivia Teams. This year, he’s focused on transforming the academic culture at ISM by implementing strategic study group initiatives, broadening the scope of academic support services beyond traditional tutoring, and curating innovative, intellectually stimulating extracurricular events.
Tyler L. | Deputy Head of Sports
A senior with three years in the sports department, Tyler brings passion, dedication, and vision to his role. He plans to drive school spirit by boosting student participation at sporting events and intramurals, introducing a monthly recognition program for athletic excellence, and launching a sports newsletter supported by real-time social media engagement.
Chhean T. | Deputy Head of Lower School
Chhean, a seasoned SLO® leader since 2021, brings heartfelt dedication to student growth and mentorship. Now a senior, he’s focused on empowering younger students by building a Lower School leadership team that will spearhead meaningful activities and host memorable Huskies & Pups events to foster cross-grade connections.
Yevhen L. | Deputy Head of Activities
A junior whose journey with SLO® has been nothing short of transformative, Yevhen brings infectious energy and a strong creative vision to the team. This year, he plans to launch a prom committee, partner with Outreach to expand SLO fundraising opportunities, and curate unforgettable experiences through school-wide retreats, dances, and prom.
Quinn M. | Deputy Head of Outreach
A true passionate changemaker, Quinn has been with the school since kindergarten and previously served as Head of Wellness. Their goals this year include formalizing the student ambassador program, implementing birthday celebrations to build community spirit, recognizing student achievements in academics and activities, and championing cultural awareness through immersive diversity celebrations.
Minjun J. | Deputy Head of Wellness
A senior with a rich background in student leadership, Minjun previously served as Deputy Head of Sports and now brings her compassion and creativity to the Wellness team. She is committed to embedding wellness into daily student life through inclusive, low-stress events and interactive campaigns that promote mental and emotional well-being school-wide.
Julie P. | Deputy Head of Discipline
Julie, a junior who’s been part of the ISM community since preschool, began her SLO® journey as a prefect in fifth grade. This year, she’s on a mission to make the discipline process more student-led, strengthen team collaboration, and foster a culture of respect, accountability, and kindness across the campus.
Zyva I. | Deputy Head of Social Responsibility
A visionary senior with a track record of leadership across three SLO® departments, Zyva is passionate about creating lasting change. Her goals include achieving 100% participation in ongoing service projects, positioning ISM as a leader in impactful community initiatives, and providing students with the tools and platforms to lead meaningful action in their own communities.
“This year’s SLO® team is full of experience, passion, and creativity,” said Mrs. Bianucci, Student Life Coordinator. “I’m excited to see how they’ll lead their departments, continue traditions, and create meaningful memories with our community.”
At ISM, leadership isn’t confined to titles or roles—it’s something every student can develop. Through SLO®, students don’t just participate in their school; they shape it.
