ISM Debuts Career Pathways Series April 28th

The International School of Minnesota is launching the first in a series of career-focused panel discussions as part of the school’s college counseling services and commitment to the community.

The Career Pathways Series kicks off with “College to Career” on April 28th, 6:00-8:00pm at ISM. Six panelists, representing Fortune 500 companies and local businesses, will share their career journeys. School Director Chris Wester and College Counselor Zach Cohen are moderators.

“This is the first time ISM has offered an event series like Career Pathways,” said Chris Wester, ISM school director. “Our goal is multi-fold. We want to provide current students and families with as much advanced knowledge regarding college and career planning as possible. And we want to be of service to our local community, sharing this important guidance from accomplished professionals with a larger group of families.”

The panelists include:

  • Dr. Ronald Case, Mayor of Eden Prairie and Director of Operational Effectiveness, Optum

  • Taylor Corrello, Senior Engineer Site Reliability, Target

  • Jeff Kletti, Head of Advisory Products – Wealth and Investment Management, Wells Fargo

  • Mike McKinney, Engineer – Infrastructure, Target

  • Haley Schubert, Logistics and Quality Manager, Quantum Controls

  • Dr. Wendy Miller, Internal Medicine Physician, Allina Health

The public is invited to attend the free event, and Wester has extended that invitation to PIM Arts High School and four public high schools in the area.

Wester says the event compliments the practical hands-on experience ISM offers, in addition to the school’s mentorships and internships.

“We’re looking to continue to have multiple panelists. Hearing from multiple voices is important.”

This first Career Pathway Series event is in partnership with Target Corporation. Wester says it’s his goal for each session in the series to be supported by a community partner.

This event launches the series, then the series will reconvene in September with a session every two months.

In addition to Wester and Cohen, Alumni Coordinator and Event Specialist Prima Sisinni and admissions director Jim Decker are on the Career Pathways Series development team.
