As a diverse and inclusive school that celebrates the differences that exist across our entire community, we know how important it is to promote acceptance and inclusion – in school, in our communities, and online. This is why we are collaborating with Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center again this year, supporting and sharing their mission to prevent bullying and promote kindness.
Spearheaded by SLO® Deputy Head of Discipline, Rucha Batchu, and Student Life Coordinator, Jean Akesson, this year our involvement with this incredible organization will be bigger than ever.
This past weekend, more than 20 members of our terrific Husky Nation completed the annual Run, Walk, Roll Against Bullying held at Mt. Normandale Lake in Bloomington on Saturday, 28 September 2019. A fun and an incredible way to kick off October’s National Bullying Prevention Month!
Preventing bullying and promoting kindness is an important mission for us all and throughout October, our students will focus on creating a positive and safe environment for each other, and our community.
On Wednesday, 23 October, we hope to have a completely “orange campus” in celebration of Unity Day. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to wear orange to show their support for this terrific cause – and we hope you will do the same wherever you will be spending Unity Day as we all play our part in helping to create a world without bullying. Official ‘The International School of Minnesota proudly supports Unity Day’ t-shirts are available for sale at just $10 each, the profits of which will be donated to Pacer’s. However, any orange t-shirt or sweater is acceptable.
Please note, that this is not a non-uniform day – if a student does not wish to wear orange that is completely fine, but in that event, the full school uniform should be worn.
